Info for Presenters/Exhibitors

On this page you currently find the default audio/visual/computing facilities the conference will provide for various tracks. This page will be further updated with organization and timing of sessions and presentations around May mid June 2008.

In general the conference will provide:

  • Power 50 Hz, 220-240V
  • Wireless network connectivity (Wi-Fi) throughout the Royal Tropical Institute
  • Reasonable GSM, GPRS and UMTS indoors reception, at commercial (roaming) tariffs

In addition to these general facilities we provide the specific facilities for presenters and exhibotirs as listed below.

Projector, screen and sound connected to a laptop with DVD drive, Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Microsoft Office 2007, and DVD player software, lectern with microphone as well as a wireless hand or clip microphone. A speaker preparation room is available.

WS- Workshops

For each workshop we provide a room with tables and chairs in meeting setting, a projector and screen, 1 flip chart with paper, 1 set of pens, 220-240V 50Hz power (power strips with at least 4 CEE 7/4 sockets).

PS - Posters

The posters are recommended to be in A0 size in portrait orientation. Poster presenters are expected to bring the accepted posters to the conference site with them. For each poster we will provide one poster board with enough space left for one A0-sized poster in portrait orientation, as well as materials to attach posters to the boards.

The poster presentation session is planned on Wednesday 3 September 2008 from 14:30-16:00. During the poster session at least one of the poster authors is expected to present the poster, i.e be available for the audience to explain and answer questions. Between 11:00-14:00, the poster room is available to set-up posters. After the poster presentation session is over, posters should NOT be removed, but left on display during the entire conference. Posters should be removed on Friday 5 September 2008 between 15:30 - 16:00.

A plenary "madness session" is planned right before the poster presentation session, on Wednesday 3 September 2008 from 14:00-14:30. During the madness session, each poster will get EXACTLY 60 seconds to promote the poster. Late AprilMid June August, you will find further instructions and a 1-slide PowerPoint template that should be used for the madness session on this page Poster presenters should have received an e-mail by now from the Madness Session chair, Henk de Poot, with further instructions and a template to use for your contribution to the Madness Session.

DM - Demonstrations

By default, one table, two chairs, one poster board with enough space left for one A0-sized poster in portrait orientation, 220-240V 50Hz power (power strips with at least 4 CEE 7/4 sockets), and wired internet connectivity (Ethernet RJ45 plugs/jacks) are available.

The demonstration session is planned on Wednesday 3 September 2008 from 14:30-16:00. During the demonstration session, at least one of the demonstration authors is expected to present the demonstration. Between 11:00-14:00, the demo room is available to set-up demonstrations. Demonstrations should be removed on Wednesday 3 September 2008 between 16:00 and 17:30.

A plenary "madness session" is planned right before the demonstrations session, on Wednesday 3 September 2008 from 14:00-14:30. During this session, each demonstration will get EXACTLY 60 seconds to promote the demonstration. DC - Doctoral Consortium

For the Doctoral Consortium on Monday 1 September 2008, we provide a room with tables and chairs in meeting setting, a projector and screen, 1 flip chart with paper, 1 set of pens, 220-240V 50Hz power (power strips with at least 4 CEE 7/4 sockets).

Doctoral Consortium students are expected to bring a poster to the conference with them. Doctoral Consortium posters are recommended to be in A0 size in portrait orientation. For each poster we will provide one poster board with enough space left for one A0-sized poster in portrait orientation, as well as materials to attach posters to the boards. On Wednesday 3 September 2008, between 11:00-14:00, the poster boards for the Doctoral Consortium will be available to attach posters to. Doctoral Consortium posters will be left on display during the entire conference. Posters should be removed on Friday 5 September 2008 between 15:30 - 16:00. Please note: Doctoral Consortium Posters are NOT part of the Posters track: they are not part of the Poster Presentation session on Wednesday, nor will they be advertised during the Madness Session on Wednesday.

ME - Mobile Experiences

A plenary "madness session" is planned right before the demonstrations and posters session, on Wednesday 3 September 2008 from 14:00-14:30. During this session, each Mobile Experience will get EXACTLY 60 seconds to promote itself. Mobile Experience contact authors should have received an e-mail by now from the Madness Session chair, Henk de Poot, with further instructions and a template to use for your contribution to the Madness Session.

Exhibits

For exhibotors, exhibit space is available during MobileHCI 2008 main conference (3-5 September), with by default:
- 1 table
- 2 chairs
- one poster board with enough space left for one A0-sized poster in portrait orientation.
