How to get to the conference venue from ...
- Amsterdam Schiphol Airport
To plan your trip in detail and compare all options, visit this Schiphol routeplanner (fill out zip code 1092AD if your destination is the conference venue). We recommend taking the train to Amsterdam Central Station (15 minutes travel time, several connections per hour). The Schiphol Railway Station is located right under the central Arrival/Departure hall of the airport.
- Amsterdam Central Station
*A lot of construction work is going on around Amsterdam Central station.* Take the exit towards the city centre, then turn LEFT towards the tram stops. Take tram line 9, direction Diemen Sniep, and exit at stop Alexanderplein (about 12 minutes travel time, 4-8 connections per hour).
- Tram stop Alexanderplein
From tram stop Alexanderplein, walk another 80 meters (southeast) towards the front entrance of the Royal Tropical Institute.
- Royal Tropical Institute (parking
entrance)
If you plan to arrive by car, we advise you not to take it into the city centre. Instead, park your car at one of the cheap Park & Ride parking lots located at the A10 high way: You park your car for a low fee of € 6 per 24 hours, with unlimited 24 hours public transport ticket included in the price, and you continue your visit using good metro, tram or bus connections to the centre of Amsterdam. If you travel with a companion, a second public transport ticket will be issued and its price is also included in the initial fee. With an additional payment you may purchase 48 and 72 hours tickets.
Nevertheless, if you arrive by car, and manage to find a parking spot here, the easiest way to find the front entrance is to walk back to the street, then walk about 50 m north along Linneausstraat, then make a left and walk 100 m west along Mauritskade to the use the front entrance of the Royal Tropical Institute. - Royal Tropical Institute (front
entrance)
This is the MobileHCI 2008 conference venue. Use the front entrance. The regsitration desk is located just beyond the entrance. You can't miss.
